It is Radio4extra and 6Music for us mostly. It is also having archivists who can curate a suite of programmes on a theme that is its other strength.

I was deeply saddened to hear that Radio 4 Extra is closing. It has been there when I was going through some hard times and needed something to get me through the worst of times; knowing it will soon be gone is completely heartbreaking to me.

Bugger. I’ve listened to BBC Radio4extra for years. That stuff may lay in the archives but it gives it an airing and has let me find stuff I never would have heard of. Plus it doesn’t carry news which is a big plus.

Will the WHOLE of the BBC’s audio drama/comedy/culture archive be available? Will be have to become adept at searching?
