Haven’t seen this come up on #RailSky yet: SRI finally got their very own diesel. No more using GLC units or leasing stuff, as they’ve done from GLLX, LTEX and PNLX over the past decade.

4520 will be at home in a town she once worked in for the Trunk as well.

A profile picture of Southern Pacific #9019, in the red and gray 'bloody nose' livery, a rare ALCO DH643 diesel-hydraulic locomotive, that mated the ALCO 251 prime mover to a German made Voith hydraulic transmission These big, 4300 hp diesel hydraulics were not particularly successful. Just three were built (9018-9020) and all were withdrawn and scrapped in 1973.

Happened to catch a @officialcsx.bsky.social train on the famous Cleveland Short Line today. Most of this bypass route from Berea to Collinwood Yard in the far east of Cleveland is hard to shoot, but the Pearl Road bridge features railfan holes! Details are in the alt text caption. #RailSky
CSX engine 853 leads an Intermodal Train across the famous ex-Conrail “Short Line” through the extreme southern border of Cleveland, OH on June 29, 2026. The route has long acted as a bypass around the urban core of Cleveland for trains running two or from the massive Collinwood Yard on the far east side of the city. Today, 99% of all CSX through traffic transiting Greater Cleveland uses some or all of the route from CP-175 (QD Tower at the west end of Collinwood) and BE Tower at Berea, with only Amtrak’s Lake Shore Limited and local traffic using the original mainline through Downtown Cleveland. In this view, the GE ES44AC is approaching the Pearl Road bridge upon which the photographer is standing for the photo. A billboard advertising tourism opportunities in Michigan, using the famous Pure Michigan slogan, is behind the train to the left, while a ridge of grass separates it from the adjacent interstate 480 to the right.
