Sunday I had The Hot Zone by Jayne Ann Krentz (as Jayne Castle). These Harmony books are silly but tons of fun, I love them. Also thrilled to get a book in mass market paperback format!

How long do you want this list to be? 😅 I'm picking the belong only out of the ARCs still waiting for me 🫣

1. Seasons of Glass and Iron
2. The Rainshadow Orphans
3. Harbour of Hungry Ghosts
4. Bodies of Magic
5. The Scarlet Ball

And I'm currently reading Alix Harrow's The Slantwise Histories!

Wow that’s a lot of rain! Nice skies here, low 60’s and we never get as much rain as forecasted here in the Rainshadow!

It looks like a rainy week, but we never seem to get a lot in the Rainshadow.

Some of the wettest land in the Lower 48 sits ~100 miles from high desert. The Olympics and Cascades wring out Pacific storms on their western slopes, leaving eastern Oregon and Washington dry country. The drizzly Northwest is a thin coastal strip.

Finished The Hot Zone by Jayne Castle. Another one I've been looking for that ties up a lot of loose threads on Harmony, esp on Rainshadow Island. Sedona Snow (familiar last name, anyone?) has a problem and Cyrus Jones (same) wants to solve it for her #booksky #readersky #microreview #AmReading

The Drenching indeed haha! Here we grumble if we have to trade our hoodies for raincoats, spoiled by our built in Olympics-rainshadow umbrella. My first proper atmospheric river camping in the rainforest up-Island, I was truly shocked, it redefined what I call rain haha. Victoria mostly gets “mist.”

I'm in the coastal PNW in the middle of a weird rainshadow bubble surrounded by rainforest so our humidity is always bonkers on one end of the spectrum or the others(>人<;)

Thanks Lynne, you too! We actually had some rain in the Rainshadow today! 🌦️

HONESTLY.

According to the weather radar, IT IS RAINING RIGHT NOW.
According to eyes, ground, etc: Not a fucking drop.

I hate the rainshadow at this time of year. Jesus Christ.

Dear Olympic Rainshadow:

Get fucked. Let it rain.

Signed,
Very dry Victoria

I don’t know anything about this book but that’s a cool name and cover. The Rainshadow Orphans by Naomi Ishiguro

I just finished reading "The Rainshadow Orphans" by Naomi Ishiguro. I highly recommend it - the pacing is amazing & it offers hope and humanity. (Something desperately needed right now)
Also, the cover designs are so beautiful 😍. Plus, there are more books in this series coming!

Having missed their two prior short visits, this was my first day with Southern Residents all summer! J-Pod and K-Pod came in and westside shuffled off San Juan Island today. Ultimately the 42 killer whales went north towards the Strait of Georgia. -MWS

Still working on Sarah Beth Durst's The Enchanted Greenhouse.

But on the side, I've just knocked out Naomi Ishiguro's The Rainshadow Orphans.

Went to see folk singer-songwriter Jim Page at Rainshadow Recording Studio in Port Townsend tonight and as luck would have it Artis the Spoonman joined him for half of the show!
