Because it is technically not possible. They require some rampup times. In addition some power plants produce heat, not only electricity.

Ramp up takes time.
I have just lived through the fastest industrial rampup of all time, and it still took 2-4 years to do, depending on factory and production site.
And we still need to do more.
People always misjudge rampup time.

Very impressive. Would add that Poland’s military rampup has also mainly benefitted foreign production - another source of amazement on the performance.

I think in popular imagination the company's struggles through the Model 3 rampup were like "we pushed our chips in on a risky idea and won" and not "elon wasted a huge amount of time and money trying to redesign the factory ('alien dreadnought') himself" bsky.app/profile/chec...
sometimes I think about what Tesla could be if its ownership and management were remotely Normal and get very sad

Europes weapons industry is ramping up at a rate not seen since World War II, and it will continue the rampup curve for the next couple of years as a minimum.

We're already seeing a slow but steady protest rampup with the Tesla demonstrations. I'd be shocked if we're not seeing widespread protests by April at this rate.

I thoroughly approve of NWS's recent rampup in vocab. There WILL be property damage, IS rotation (tornado) etc.
But to be able to dump emergency kit near the door and pull up radar and see where that line actually is, see variation w/in the line, in realtime is equally important.

It’s real and the idea is to stop the headlong rush of AI by making it impossible to steal data, thus cutting off the massive rampup of data centers and energy usage.

Pretty much every process I’ve seen that promises this recovery of everything hasn’t worked out commercially. And new processes are hard to ramp up. Check out Terry McNulty and more recent Niels Verbaan papers on rampup performance.

Sounds like a similar story to Lancy-Pont-Rouge in Switzerland - originally opened in 2002 at the yard where the CEVA tunnel would be constructed and served just by 2tph regio service until the rampup to 4tph and rebuilding ahead of the launch of the Léman Express
