If it isn’t clear listening to this, I’m absolutely fascinated by 70s arcade games and will talk at length about how cool and weird they are at the slightest opportunity (also see my video series and book). Learn about nifty early works from Atari, Ramtek, Taito, Chicago Coin and more!
If I were to refer to “it happening,” there’s a small chance I’d be talking about a Digital Eclipse Gold Master collection of Exidy + Ramtek; but more likely than not, I’m definitely talking about the thing.
If I were to mention “it happening”, the thing I would be talking about would be a Digital Eclipse Gold Master Series release of Frak! for the BBC Micro.
Worth remembering that any time I refer to “it happening,” I’m talking about an official English release of Treasure of the Rudras.

Love this glimpse of 1970s arcade machines! Taito had some truly pioneering works that deserve more recognition and availability today, and some of those shown were originally American games from companies like Ramtek that are similarly obscure but interesting.

If you like or at least are familiar with Breakout, Clean Sweep from Ramtek is, based on internal Atari memos, likely one of the inspirations for that game. It's reportedly not particularly fun for reasons that you can probably guess watching this, but it's important to that evolution!
