RBA displays misunderstanding of basic economics.

Just a truly disgraceful decision

Wow! I know RBA and he is an extraordinary astrophotographer. This is just more proof.
Rogelio Bernal Andreo captured this image of #CometC2023A3 on 13 October at around 19:35 from San Luis Reservoir, California. He used a Canon 70-200mm lens @ 145mm, and a Sony a7s camera. No tracking. #Astrophotography 🔭

Finally. The RBA has cut rates by 25 basis points, to 4.1%.

"It should have happened last year, but thankfully the RBA has finally caught up with reality and delivered a real cost of living benefit for households."

Michele Bullock thinks real wage growth falling after COVID was a good thing and she's worried they might go up this time.

Brain dead belief that it is always 1979. Please resign and get someone who is not an RBA lifer.

The Point Live: RBA meeting to decide interest rates
The RBA is expected to raise interest rates at its meeting today, taking Australians with mortgages back to the interest rate they were paying before the RBA started cutting. As it happens, live

Failure to do so would be wrong, and highly political, given the latest inflation figures

Kind of ironic that the RBA governor mixed up inflation (CPI) and cost-of-living, given the RBA were the ones in 1998 who lobbied to get mortgages taken out of the CPI
Last week the RBA Guv said: "“people who have mortgages … see increases in interest rates as an increase in the cost of living, but it’s not really”.
Sorry Michele. But it is. Really.

Hard to think of a better appointment to the RBA board than my old mate, Bruce Preston. By any measure he's Australia's leading monetary economist. Good news for the Bank, for Australia, and for economics.

(Many moons ago we were baby economists together at the RBA.)
