Have you looked at ReBAC (relation based access control) / Zanzibar / SpiceDB?
I'm using this for my Permissioned PDS prototype, quite literally running SpiceDB alongside like you would need to if you swapped out sqlite for postgres. Mindset of using permission db/solver is equiv to sqlite/postgres
