#ReWET
I agree, the current government haven’t ‘given up’. My FOI request revealed that previous governments failed to implement a wildfire risk plan since 2023. DEFRA has at last been jolted into taking wildfires seriously by the terrifying blazes of this summer. But they need a plan to rewet England!

the only way i ever found to fix this was to rewet it - pitcher of water over the tub or kitchen sink gun were the easiest way

Drained peatlands cover 2% of EU farmland but produce 80% of agricultural GHG emissions. At the #ALFAwetlands #REWET Final Conference, a new policy brief showed why rewetting can cut emissions, restore biodiversity and store water! 🔗 Link below.

Thinking more about specifically one color to another, when I do this I overlap my colors, and in each pass I wet the paper well past the point I want the color to go up to so that paint spreads into a soft transition

With acrylic ink it doesn't rewet previous washes, which helps a lot

3. I prefer acrylic ink bc the pigment stays suspended (mixed) very evenly and it's waterproof so doesn't rewet. Watercolor works of course, but you have to be careful of rewetting. Different paints behave differently in this way

Not comprehensive, but I think most important points. Hope it helps!

He's back in the triceratops, probably because it's more humid. But now that he's in it I can rewet the moss in his preferred hot hide.

I fed him two pinkies, got the hot moss, and he kept an eye on me in case there was a third pinky (there was not).

We know what happens when our landscapes — the very landscapes that sustain our resilience — are sacrificed to the greed of a few.

Watch “Empty Lands”. It might makes you angry. Good.

➡️ Avoid #maladaptation. Think about the future climate before restoring just for the present.

And that’s it for this thread – thanks for reading to the end!

It’s all up to you, your family’s bread consumption and god. I’m on the lookout for a good French baguette near PLG

Drain a peatland and it can become a carbon source, wildfire risk and habitat loss rolled into one. North Carolina is racing to rewet thousands of years of stored carbon before drought wins.

I would press additionally for an ambitious & rapid programme to rewet drained peatland forests.

Those comprise ~20% of farmed forests in Finland if memory serves.

The Government’s wildfire strategy is clear: rewet peat and restrict controlled burning.

But rewetting can take decades to deliver fire-resilient peatlands. Meanwhile, fuel loads keep growing as a key tool for managing them is effectively banned.
