They did get one part right though - our bodies process so much memory. Genetic memory from the moment we are created - even knowing to cry, to suckle.

It is my genuine belief that LLMs hit the "can reason about functors, recursion schemes and category theory" point well before they hit the "can do math that has numbers" point. Observing them do the first of these is what convinced me they were worth spending time on.
The assumption that LLMs can’t do arithmetic, or are just memorizing enough patterns to fake it, now seems so clearly false and its one of the coolest LLM results ive seen in a while. Seems clear now theres some subsection of the weights that knows math and can do a lot of it real good
