#Reinfection
There is a study going around saying that reinfection with Omicron is much more frequent than reinfection with other strains.

One caveat.

Omicron is not actually one strain. It’s many strains that we “forgot” to name.

💯 the same applies to Covid and cleaning the air - unless we want to keep breathing in airborne viruses and collecting reinfection after reinfection until many end up with long Covid
One thing that always bugs me about the climate catastrophe is that we’re gonna have to get off the gas one day one way or another and once you recognise / accept that why wouldn’t you put as much effort as possible into figuring it out as soon as practicable ‽

It’s only gonna get worse and harder

Now is the worst of the pandemic because we are doing none of those things and just allowing reinfection after reinfection.
Remember how just a few years ago during the worst of the pandemic when we saw how the govt can actually do big things and saw that our collective health & well-being are intertwined, and then corporations got mad that they lost a modicum of power and helped fund a backlash of amnesia and fascism?

And each reinfection increases the odds of long covid. That's not immunity.

YES. We are five years into constant reinfection of a virus that causes literal brain damage.

I don’t know how to say this without sounding harsh, but I need you to hear it. COVID — or SARS-2 — is not “just another cold.” It doesn’t leave you the same. Every reinfection stacks damage: brain, heart, immune system.

On top of all of these very good points, after five years of constant reinfection:

We all have underlying conditions.

Risk of long Covid is cumulative with each additional reinfection.

On #LongCovidAwarenessDay I want to draw attention to the fact that many people are still living with the effects of Covid, and they often struggle to get the support they need. Government must do much more on research, support, and prevention.

Lack. Of. Time.

Lack. Of. Safety from chronic reinfection by SARS-CoV-2.

every reinfection increases your chances of getting long covid. every reinfection is another chance to infect other people and create new chains of transmission.

it’s a self-fulfilling prophecy to say everyone’s going to get something that barely anyone is trying to stop the spread of anymore.
"I don’t know how to convince everyone that we can’t give up. So many people consider COVID to be endemic, or accept that everyone will eventually become infected, thinking nothing more can be done... but I know a better world is possible and we will move forward together."
COVID Isn’t Going Anywhere. Masking Up Could Save My Life.
"When I am in public spaces and see most people unmasked, I feel like an expendable burden not worth saving."

So no—it’s not just anxiety.
It’s not deconditioning.
And it’s not over.

Still think reinfection is no big deal?

Still think this is “mild”?
