#Rereleases
I'm just going to say it:

It's wild that rereleases/"upgrades" are so prevalent for current gen consoles. It's really showing there's nothing worth getting a new generation console for.

I hate when they do this for rereleases. There was another movie I was planning to see and suddenly it was gone. A week or so later a new edition was announced for release like 6 months into the future.

I'm still mad how they even go back and delete older rereleases without even replacing them, let alone delisting original versions that still work on the same platforms.

Ah. Got it, sorry.

These aren’t new books. They’re the four Libriomancer books, which were previously published by DAW. I’ve made some revisions (removing references to a certain rabid transphobic author), but they’re basically rereleases of existing books.

Yeah and Sony is never going to reproduce the PS2 custom chips so any "new PS2" would only be a locked down emulation box anyway. A cheap low power "lite" PS console targeted at indie and AA and rereleases could be an interesting move but dressing it up as something old would hurt more than help IMO

And tonight I'll buy my first game console since I got myself a 3ds way back in 2016

And, truly, I am just getting it for bloodborne. The fact that it's bundled with sekiro and this place also has the ace combat rereleases is a bonus

SEGA are oddly stingy with their Dreamcast games and rereleases (Skies of Arcadia, where are you).

But yeah, looking at whole libraries… PS1, Saturn, Dreamcast… so much one could translate.

Something worth noting is that national dex completion in FRLG and RSE does not require any mythicals nor Ho-oh and Lugia, so for the sake of completion whenever RSE eventually rereleases you won’t need to care for Celebi and Jirachi

True

Even most of the later rereleases of UMK3 were based on version 1.1 rather than 1.2 or Wavenet

no fr! there is a running joke (all in good fun) at work about how many times i will see a single movie in theatres and how annoying i am going to be about it being a direct correlation lmfao. avatar always becomes deeply amusing to these people when i hit double digits. or when i see rereleases!

#IconoClassic is a company that specializes in remasters and rereleases, particularly for things slated for oblivion... a noble cause. #ArtinAmerica is another band that has been around but after their first experience whet the independent production & distribution route.

Unless the rereleases changed something, you should be able to cast reflect and prevent Sora from getting grabbed.

Listen for "Can you spare..." and spam it.

First phase is a good deal more simple to get around since 90% of his attacks can just be straight up blocked, like simple block.

In terms of rereleases, I only ever played the initial PS3 versions and now have the Steam versions, so I just don’t remember lol. I do remember the PS3 somehow struggling to run PS2 games though.

Never let anyone tell you rereleases don't matter for a movie you've already seen numerous times before cause watching Alien in a theater for the first time a few years back was the first time it really hit me how scary that movie actually is.

In Images of Hong Kong by Leung Ping-Kwan this line caught my eye, "Why are there so many good at Oriental spy novels?" Many of the Hong Kong films I have seen this year, mostly rereleases of John Woo classics, focused on cops and martial arts and some general spy things. This makes me wonder

Actually, I got it: Sega rereleases the Dreamcast with an HDMI port. They keep it open as a place to play indie games and rerelease their old games on there. Then give an upgraded controller and enough memory to save your games.

I wonder this all the time. Hell, if they don't want to do physical rereleases, give them a handful of games like the NES Classic with an online store.
Luke half-seriously wonders: What if...everyone just re-released old consoles instead of trying to sell $1000+ new ones?

I honestly think this might eventually be something the gaming market actually eventually does; it feels like a logical continuation of things like the NES Classic and retro rereleases. But I dunno, FPGAs can be hard to manufacture.

I hope though.

A lot depends on the mastering, which is also why rereleases often sound quite different to the originals (and not always for the better).
October 5, 2026 at 9:27 PM
for me the ways I get value out of it are
1. seeing the same movie more than once (esp in large format)
2. being more willing to take a gamble on something I've barely heard of since it's "free"
3. non-Fathom rereleases* (even if they're only $5 normally it adds up)

Y'know with all the remakes and updates and rereleases and side games Metal Gear has spawned I'm surprised they've never considered remaking Metal Gear 1 and 2

They're still part of the canon storyline, I say go for it

Chernabog in Fantasia in one of its many theatrical rereleases when I was quite young. Was a big animation and classical music fan so made total sense to take me but I was having none of that
In honor of scary media month: what is the first piece of media you remember truly frightening you as a child?

i do appreciate the disney+ and blu-ray rereleases of dumbo, peter pan, and a few others having title cards at the beginning that say "xyz is present in this movie. it was wrong then and it's wrong now"

and i think that's so cool bc the gd company is like "don't make excuses for this on our behalf"

A game I bought for $70 twenty years ago are now worth $500 (complete in box).

It's made me consider the growing importance of remasters and rereleases, because some truly special games have become prohibitively expensive for so many gamers.

LAIKA lowest grossing picture which means the setup for a sequel at the end will never happen. Much to my chagrin.
