Was looking at a company's website and their resources page led me back to a short video I did back in 2017 introducing a then-new electrical resistivity survey planning tool, and the geophysicist superhero stick figures a coworker drew still crack me up.

Ground-Penetrating Radar (GPR) systems, magnetometers, and electrical resistivity meters can be used to scan to spot and map subsurface ground disturbances without digging. They are widely used in archeology.

Can we use near surface geophysics to identify seepage from canals? Yes! This new paper in Journal of Hydrology, led by former MS student Dina Ragab, illustrates the use timelapse ERT to reveal locations of decreased resistivity associated with seepage from nearby irrigation canals #hydrology

How do geophysicists “see” underground? 👀⚡️
Electrical Resistivity Tomography (ERT) helps scientists map underground resistivity to locate groundwater, track pollution, and more! Our new animation explains how ERT works and why it’s a powerful tool in geophysics.

By sending low-voltage electrical currents through the ground and measuring how the current flows between electrodes, electrical resistivity tomography reveals variations in underground resistivity. These measurements are combined to create a detailed resistivity profile of subsurface materials.

I acquired a whole bunch of long-ass usb and HDMI cables for a work project last year. A few were 30 ft. Turns out you can push ohm's law (and more importantly the capacitance and inductance, bc copper has like 0.01 ohms/metre resistivity) of a cable pretty far if you don't need 4k and 120 fps.

One of the best online collaborative activities I've done, teaching electricity. For 45 minutes, the entire classroom was engaged, sharing ideas, teaching each other, reinforcing work from previous lessons. Great stuff

Imported blue wafers with over 15% doping swings are idling U.S. solar lines, as factories lose all control over resistivity, gettering, and junction depth. The result is scrap, drifting fill factors, and stalled progress on TOPCon or heterojunction cells.
