They technically retcon by adding backstory that wasn’t there before, particularly with Samus returns and zero mission, but I don’t believe Metroid has ever really contradicted prior information so that’s good

The first step was to retcon his sexually aggressive personality to turn him into a huge sub. Unfortunately, another obvious solution they found out was to make his bitch wife as irredeemable as possible so that you would take his side in the custody battle despite him being objectively in the wrong

See what’s funny is that for many years I’ve kind of already drawn Anton with backwards knees in some poses, because I referenced my own knees, and I genuinely didn’t realise they don’t do that unless you’re hypermobile. But hey, means I don’t have to retcon him into having EDS, he already does!

Even if I accepted the idea that it was a retcon, the writing CLEARLY isn't trying to paint him as a good guy. They still have to fuckin' stop him, which...they do. Yeah, he has kind of a last minute "I see the error of my ways" moment which...YMMV, but he's still a villain.

I think 'retcon' is kind of a misnomer if seen as negative. Genuinely, Steve Rogers should not have STOLEN Peggy Carter and split off into an AU like he did. Every MCU film has after effects, that's how a shared film universe works?! They just didn't want to put the clips into Brand New Day, IMO.

Everyone I have heard discuss this don't understand how much of a logistical nightmare would be. What do we retcon? If its just a franchise retcon thats easy but it would have to be off of the basis of campaign evolved

Honestly, I would be ok, if it was done madoretly. I'm recent not the because fan of "heroes that we've never seen before" twists. It can often feel like a lazy retcon. Like, if there's one Sentai team I would have kept and elaborate on them, is Dairangers.

You know what really annoys me? That stupid ass attempt at a Loa retcon to make all the "REAL LOA" into Wild Gods is so damaging to the Frostmane, who on at least two occasions have worshipped Elementals as Loa. Coldridge Fire elemental and the Ice elementals in "Blood on the snow" scenario

lrt I think the main thing that coming from wow originally gave me was a deep appreciation for xiv's writers even ATTEMPTING to tell a coherent, mostly retcon-free linear story. and the fact that everything from previous expansions doesn't just get chucked out a window the second a new one comes out
