The RetroChallenge event starts in two weeks, so if you have a #RetroComputing or #RetroGaming project you've been meaning to start then maybe do it through the month of October www.retrochallenge.org

More work on my #RetroChallenge today. I was taking the out from the NES controller, reassembling it on the #RC2014, and showing the output in the red LEDs. I then noticed that I’ve accidentally reassembled the byte backwards. Oppps

I tried to emulate 90's Anime, I don't think i succeeded, but it still looks DREAMY. #90's #anime #retro #art #digitalart #unicorn #cute #challenge #retrochallenge #comic Upsilon looks just as good in 2d as he does in 3D!

I'm not able to take part in #RetroChallenge this year, but I've just spent a few minutes enjoying last year's writeup of my #Sharp #MZ80K emulator for the #RaspberryPiPico . The plan for winter is to have a bash at #MZ700 emulation - faster clock & colour too!

I’ve finally got my hands on a copy of Programming the Z80 by Rodnay Zaks.

This should help with the #RetroChallenge and #RC2014 development.

BTW, some years ago, I did a comparison of these models:

All Hail Spencer's daft, but ambitious 2014 Retrochallenge.

Amazing how far he has taken it and how far others have too.

It's official, I'm taking part in this year's #RetroChallenge

I'm planning on getting an NES controller working with my #RC2014 computer.

There was a native gui editor for 42nix (my team did use it, but preferred vi as it was standard across UNIX workstations). The little-known ded text editor was also available. See my abandoned 2023 retrochallenge for details and a link to the MG-1 manual entry. z80.timholyoake.uk/retrochallen...

Totally stunned that the Pico MZ-80K won the "general" category in last year's #RetroChallenge! Thank you to everyone who voted for me, followed the project, etc. etc. etc. #RetroComputing

It's the final day of the #RetroChallenge so I've written about my finished project.

In this post I explain how I was able to connect my RC2014 NES Controller module to a Sinclair ZX Spectrum, and how I hacked the Manic Miner code so I could use my new module.

I'm still playing with the Sharp MZ-80K Pico emulator I created during this year's #RetroChallenge. Trying to emulate a floppy disk format and drive where there's precious little information around is ... challenging!

Quote me with your first computer.

#SharpMZ80K Christmas 1981. I still have it in working order.

I also recreated it on a #RaspberryPi Pico for #RetroChallenge in October!

More work on the #RC2014 NES controller #RetroChallenge this evening.

I have designed a circuit and PCB that should allow me to bit-bang the NES controller from my RC2014 computer.

I've soldered up the PCB for my RC2014 NES Controller #RetroChallenge

Thankfully, it all seems to work, so I've written about how to use this from MS-BASIC.

More progress on my NES controller module for the #rc2014 #RetroChallenge.

I am now able to move a pixel around on an 8x8 LED module using the NES controller.

Lots to write up over the coming days.
