Just donated my first proper road bike to the local bike shop to reuse. This thing took me on many adventures, including once around the loch at Etape Loch Ness, and on the fastest 100 miles I've ever ridden at RideLondon.

Got a slicker replacement these days, but still sad to bid it adieu.

Especially in this heat. Furthest I've done on roads is about ten miles, but I mainly use cycling as transport, I don't cycle for its own sake.
You'd surprise yourself though. I did RideLondon 50 with no training a few years back and felt like I could turn around and do it again. Closed roads obvs.

Especially if they’re going to whack out press releases about Cycle Sundays. We don’t even have RideLondon any more. tfl.gov.uk/info-for/med...

Ha ha! Yes. I do not have one of those, but yes, I'm contemplating a gravel bike early next year. My hybrid has been a marvellous gateway drug and I would like to go on some cycling adventures in Europe with my own bike.

Mind you the hybrid has done RideLondon 60 & London to Brighton.

I did neither after finishing the RideLondon bike ride on the mall, mostly because I was too busy shouting 'ow, my bollocks' after riding along the surprisingly bumpy roads besides the Thames.

Mark Cavendish remains the current winner of the Tour of Qatar, while Elia Viviani holds RideLondon.

And of course Tadej Pogacar already did: he won the last Tour of California.

At this point, I realised that the other way around is easier. Find a lost race, go for the final winner, tick mark.

"RideLondon will not continue in its current format" instead focusing on expanding active travel in London. So yeah, it's completely dead.

I've ta'en a scunner tae TCS who took over RideLondon and then abolished it.

(For non Scots "ta'en a scunner tae" means "taken a dislike to".)
