I've also started to reread the early STRONTIUM DOG episodes (and reread ROBUSTERS last year) and its very notable how extraordinarily strong and clearly defined the characters are in those, bang, right out the gate - but Mind Wars and Planet Of The Damned are super wishy-washy and flat.

Yeah, Johnny Alpha and Wulf came over with the Starlord merger, as did Hammerstein and Ro-Jaws (I think they were called Robusters at the time). That merger turned out to be a real, long-term value add for 2000AD.
