i'm not a huge trek guy, but i'm old enough to remember how the fandom acted about Cpt Janeway & how she ruined Trek. & how Vulcans can't be black, etc.
& it's weird bcuz Roddenbery kinda invented the 'rainbow' cast of characters in a LOT of media from 80-90's tbh.

We're no longer capable of making Star Trek the way Roddenbery imagined. The ideals are too far out of reach. We're going back to the ideology of the Steam Age and Imperialism, except with lasers and computers and other destructive technology. The future is the past.

It's not so crazy, GoT and its spin-offs are still pretty much adapted from pre-existing best selling books with aid and guidance by a still existing creator.
ST is now just owned and run by studio execs, hiring anyone prepared to have a go at it, there is no Gene Roddenbery to guide squat.

Nobody can tell you you're not a real ST fan, it doesn't matter if you like the newer studio shows & movies made for wider appeal, or the core utopian stuff Gene Roddenbery made as creator while he was still alive. It's a studio brand now with a goal to entertain the masses so anyone can be a fan!
