There's plenty of books that mix mystery and romance together, but there is not a single term for these books. I've seen ro-mystery, romanstery, rom-com mystery, mystery-romance. I've used myself romstery. Hey, @crimereads.bsky.social would you settle on a term for these types of books?
Let's list! 50 mysteries! Some of them modern mixes of mystery and romance, some more traditional mysteries with a romantic element. The romantic element might be very strong, but it can only be just a possibility of romance. I wanted on the list mysteries with different takes on including romance.
I listed some romsteries here once, right? I might do that again, with more or less the same books, where I post the covers of the romsteries, not just the titles. At some point! Since romantic mysteries are in demand nowadays! crimereads.com/meet-cute-mu...

I did actually write out my personal opinion of the moving target that is romantasy, why it's not really a genre, and what the dividing line between fantasy romance & romantic fantasy is.
Thank you for @cxorlando.bsky.social for letting me use this very professional & normal title. lol

And romstery or even romantic mystery is not an actual genre category. So a book on this list is actually categorised as a romance, romantic suspense, mystery, cozy mystery, or a historical mystery. One of the more recent ones is marketed as a rom-com mystery, yet catecorized as a cozy mystery.

And if the book starts a series, then I see also the rest of the books in the series as a romstery. And it's entirely possible the first book of the series is just a start for a slow burn romance. In that case the romance develops throughout the series!

i saw a recent book being described as a rom-com mystery, and... I had kind of given up on making 'romstery' happen, but... wouldn't romstery be a great name for a type of books that are both romances and mysteries, right? And if the com part is important, you could say 'comedic romstery', right?
