#Rosebank

Be nice if they'd applied that criteria to Jackdaw and Rosebank.

I just emailed my MP asking them to oppose Rosebank, as part of a campaign by @ClientEarth and a coalition of other UK organisations.

This is our last chance to stop Rosebank. If enough people speak out now, we can make sure it is rejected once & for all.

Rosebank = 254 million tonnes of planet-warming gases.

Scotland must follow climate experts advice and reject Rosebank.

How can the government ignore 2,877 excess heat-related deaths?

Climate change wasn’t mentioned a single time in the latest budget. Instead, new gas extraction at Jackdaw is moving ahead, and unapproved oil revenue from Rosebank is already being factored into their financial plans.

Carbon Brief explodes the myth of oil and gas devotees. Rosebank must NOT be developed as it will do nothing for the public at large!

this is confirmation that OBR included Rosebank in its budget forecasts…
OBR on North Sea: "[P]roduction has been declining since the start of the 2000s & [this] is expected to continue at ~10% a yr over 2027-2031 [inc both Jackdaw & Rosebank]."

"The forecast annual pace of decline would be around 14% a year if there were no production from any new fields."

If I’m Miatta Fahnbulleh I’m going to Burnham and saying I’ll resign over this. Oh, you want me to stay in my job so I can be told to sign off Rosebank and be asked every time I go into a TV studio why I now support mad immigration proposals I clearly hate?
Home Secretary confirming refugees who go through the asylum system will start at a 20 year route to settlement - but with 10 more years if they arrived irregularly. So many, many refugees will face a 30 year wait for settlement, all while facing reviews every 2.5 years.

But they're still an ecology party. I presume you haven't seen their material about Rosebank and Jackdaw in the past two weeks?
November 1, 2026 at 3:29 PM
So he’ll cancel Jackdaw and Rosebank on the same principle?

Because only a corrupt idiot would think they will reduce bills.

The whole attraction of Healey as chancellor was that he didn't have the ego to develop his own power base. Over the last 48 hours he's shat all over the prime minister's Europe message, contradicted the government on welfare and tried to apply pressure over the energy secretary's Rosebank decision.

Andy Burnham is asked about Rosebank and Jackdaw oil and gas fields.

He says "Use of our resources can support and accelerate a clean energy future"

We are truly down the rabbit hole with this utter nonsense.

Invest in renewables, insulate homes & say no to fossil fuels.

John Healey reportedly including revenues from the not-yet-approved Rosebank oil field to fund his Budget would mean paying for this Budget with the health and security of ordinary working families and their children.
October 28, 2026 at 11:28 AM
If the Chancellor really is including tax revenues from the not yet approved #Rosebank oil field to fund his budget, it would be environmentally ruinous & morally obscene. As the planet burns, claiming emissions won’t “count” because the oil is burned overseas is reckless & cynical
Rosebank oilfield would not breach UK emission targets, say government insiders
Emissions from exported oil would not count against carbon budget, insiders say – reasoning likely to draw dismay from climate campaigners
