Oh no! In that case I shan’t make that comparison of Republicans to Pharisees in deference to my Jewish friends. If I feel like name-calling, I shall just stick with “Cromwellian Roundheads”! There are no living Cromwellian Roundheads, are there? That’s probably closer to the situation at hand.

One minor point: I really hate the romanticisation of the Wars of the Roses and the English Civil War as ‘Roundheads and Cavaliers’. Two immensely brutal and incredibly bloody conflicts reduced to pretty symbols.
