how does anyone use route53 through terraform at scale... I'm deleting ~100 records and I've been staring at the logs for entire minutes

It’s Corey.

He’s made a Bluesky client out of Route53.

Second night in a row at the World’s Greatest Taco Store.

“They’re called taquerias.”

Maybe they are. Maybe they’re not. Maybe I don’t care because I have tacos.

And the Route53 one was busy porting over pgAdmin.

あー、と思ってアカウント名をドメイン @tagomor.is に変えた。ひさしぶりにRoute53使ってる方のAWSアカウントにログインした。

If you're not using Route53 as a DB for this what are you even doing with your life?

I can also tell you lies on demand.

“AWS service names are easy to remember and unambiguous.”

“Route53 is not a database.”

Done! I registered it, created Route53 zone, created TXT record... 🤪

Now I wait for registrar wheels to spin.

In order to verify your account you need to add a DNS record on your custom domain. You can do this in a number of ways but why not using Terraform?

If you have your domain setup in Route53 on AWS the example below from Micah Carrick will show you how to setup the record.

Some of this is waiting for the one-week KMS cancellation buffer, but they're sure charging me for Route53 on anything that used to have DNSSEC enabled in the meantime
March 13, 2025 at 5:03 PM
No worries! I successfully acquired the domain and its most common misspelling on #AWS #Route53 before anyone else could.

Managing DNS domains across different providers is cumbersome.

Currently building a desktop app to make it easy.

Supporting Cloudflare, Route53 and Vercel + a lot more to come.

Will be available for Linux, MacOS and Windows.

Drop me a DM if you want to give it a try. 🙂

Today's AWS News daily digest is great! Many awesome releases yesterday, including FIS for Lambda, Amplify websockets and S3, and new Route53 record types.

I can't wait for Re:Invent, where every day is a release party. Stay in the loop too: 👉 https://aws-news.com/subscribe 👈

Which can translate to increased costs, depending on how you are doing your DNS. Route53 charges by request volume, for instance.

Oh god, are you replicating the Route53 schema to Mongo?? 🥶
