After serving in the Navy and a tour in Afghanistan, he rediscovered his connection to faith through music. He describes his music as contemporary worship that blends R&B and pop. Ryan’s debut radio single, "Heart of the Father," reached No. 2 at MediaBase, top 5 at Billboard and has received more than 50 million streams to date. The ardent nature of Ryan’s songwriting has empowered him to write for some of the biggest worship artists such as Matt Redman, Natalie Grant and House Fires. He received ASCAP's 'Most Performed Song 2018' award for writing Chris Tomlin’s “Resurrection Power” and an accompanying New Artist of the Year Dove Award Nomination as career milestones. In 2023, he wrote and performed on Maverick City Music’ Grammy winning Album ‘Kingdom Book One’. Accolade, however, is not the fuel of Ellis’ fire.
