When posting any of my mobile photography, I typically only crop the photo(s), not overprocess with any filters. Yet the current #RetroArtPrompt (#síorghlas) inspired me to take a photo of my 2021 visit to Spirits Bay and have a play with some Google Photo filters.

The graveled road was long and winding. On each side of the road, the trees were verdant, as if stubbornly ignoring the change of seasons. The landscape in the distance was odd, the volcanic cones lumpy and misshapen. They beckoned to me, "Keep going. We are here. You are so close. We are here. Come to us." And so I did, under skies of white cloud broken up against a deep blue backdrop.

I had found him.

He was never gone.

In fact, I found out again that he is, like our love, evergreen.

I love you Josh - always.

A free verse poem in response to #RetroArtPrompt (#síorghlas). Black text on white background:

----------------------

a in feore groene

I travel alone
to a bay
of spirits

to the end of the world

…to the end of my world

through forests arcane and old
yet
somehow verdant
(e’en in Winter)

my memories are muted -
yet burst with sudden
cracked light – bold hues – brilliant song

that’s how I know I’ve found
you
again

as that is what you remain

-síorghlas-

long after life has
gone

Braving the winter chill
like a #blue-tit
on a #siorghlas tree
#beak pecking
for insects
resilient as a #cactus

hard to #recall
#warm summer days
when pleasure
was the only
thing to #consider

such thoughts
deemed #illegal
by the shrill
wind's siren

I'll huddle
on this twig
til spring rolls in.
