So I guess my question then for Pubby is how many of his peers there had also done in-res Command and Staff College and potentially also SAMS/SAASS/SAWS/etc.? Could he not plan military operations before he got there? Was connecting that to diplomacy and war termination that hard?

If you or someone you know is interested in making the leap into #operational planning via #SAW, #SAMS, #MAWS, or #SAASS - have them give this a look. If they've got questions, I'm happy to provide answers - point them my way after they've given this a read! #PME #ReadFightWin

On a related tangent, promotion implications for being an expert tactician as a patch vs being a SAASS grad or going to get an advanced civilian degree

I’m frequently of the opinion that nothing has gotten us more productive than Word/Excel/Access files on a shared drive, regardless of what 20,000 productivity SAASs say.

Agreed! We read too little, we read too fast, we read too little around it, and we too often read it for the wrong reasons. I first read it (Jolles tr.) before I went to SAASS, didn't really understand it, read it again (H&P tr.) at SAASS, and have read it many times since (I like Graham tr. best).

Heaven help my Exec Director… he just forwarded me a question about AI/ML in military use and it triggered my WIC patch, SAASS patch, and author side all at once. He doesn’t even know how flooded his inbox will be when he gets back from leave 🤣

It’s true. We all have at least one. Back in the olden days, this was the first book at SAASS (not technically PME, but…whatevs) that made me throw up in my mouth a little: Gareth Morgan’s “Images of Organization.”
