all genre names are silly and inaccurate so it's important to use ones that are fun to say. "roguelike" stuck because rogue has such good mouthfeel. saying "metroidvania" is like shifting a delicious jawbreaker from one cheek to the other. "looter shooter" and "schmup" have the texture of boba tea

I've started work on a new gameboy game. A cute em up I've been calling I Want Candy. Still super early days, but wanted to share some progress. Basic gameplay is fire with one button and eat candy with the other. It should result in some fun game play. #gameboy #gbstudio #pixelart #schmup

There is no doubting Parallax is a good game, one of Sensible Software's first on the #C64 just prior to Wizball and Microprose Soccer. It's a hybrid Schmup and Arcade Adventure and really quite interesting, once you get over the irksome controls. Galway and the GFX are ace.
