hot take but without Sonic i believe SegaSammy would've mostly doubled down on their pachinko business 😭 literally worse off for both parties

i have a lot more respect for him than most given that fact but its unfortunate because SegaSammy execs really don't seem to care and only get swayed in very rare instances. and they receive almost none of the blame for Sonic's very spotty track record from Heroes to (arguably) Frontiers, either.

SegaSammy is finally buying Microsoft.

Any time I see Sonic fans talk about why Sega hasn't made a Sonic Mania 2 or how they're jealous of Sonic Mania or how fans know better I'm kinda wondering if they think Sega is only a Sonic company (they do believe this) and don't understand the greater SegaSammy Holdings C-suite fuckery.

the idea of them ever recasting Mike Pollock for literally any reason would give SegaSammy execs a heart attack

#SonicMovie4 was briefly mentioned in an investor meeting presentation by SEGASammy.

Also, it’s seemed a new #SonicMovie3 plushie is coming to Build-a-Bear next month!

TikTok video where I speedrun through the SegaSammy office building like its the Scientology building yelling about where the new Viewpoint game is at

And that's just games. If you dig deeper into the SegaSammy IR records, you're gonna see some of the worst business decisions made after somewhat decent quarters.

SegaSammy Holdings is one of those. So while everyone in the west might just know the Sega part as a video game publisher, SegaSammy Holdings as a whole run things like a music label, toy manufacturing, they got a dart board brand, pachislots, a golf resort division, TMS Entertainment, casino games,

SegaSammy Holdings has a very clear business plan if you ever bother to check their investor reports, which nobody does even though they are publically available.

That business plan is [unintelligible]

Did you know? In 2007, SegaSammy and TMS produced a short television special for Sonic X which had only aired once for Sonic’s 16th anniversary. It’s commonly believed it was made to gouge interest for a continuation.

Only brief clips from Japanese VHS recordings remain.

And they're both pals with the person known only by the chillest of a single name

for anyone looking to add obscure yuji Uekawa scrimblos to their collection: Sega Sammy's online store is offering merch from their baseball club, including the totally-not-Ristars seen here segasammy-shop.stores.jp?all_items=true 🇯🇵 their names are "Rooter" (batter/pitcher) and "Viccy" (cheer), btw

The answer to that question is always "yes"

See also: any SegaSammy IR report that is posted online on their official website.

How popular is Sonic in the SegaSammy pachinko parlors after all?
September 22, 2026 at 3:44 PM
as somebody who likes Frontiers the fact i more frequently see people punching down on Ian for all of the game's flaws and not the fact SEGASammy was incredibly hard on the team to the point they nearly fired fucking Iizuka-san for requesting a delay saddens me so much.

It's gonna be funny when those new Sega games bomb and at the SegaSammy shareholders meeting they'll say that it turns out nobody cares about their old games and now they're pivoting into whatever new bullshit scam the techbro libertarians cooked up
June 7, 2026 at 7:24 PM
As I've mentioned before, the SegaSammy IR reports are a great wealth of knowledge if you want to see a rich history of Sega just making bad decisions repeatedly.

Coincidentally, I don't think they even advertised Shinobi. I think maybe like two influencers maybe mentioned it once?
Here's the direct source if you're looking for it (from Sega Sammy's IR website).

(pawing weakly at the segasammy powerpoint flowchart that says "legacy ip" on it in several places)
June 20, 2025 at 7:33 PM
The SegaSammy IR documents are written for shareholders that don't know shit so if you ever wonder what the hell they're talking about don't worry, the people that invest money in the company don't know either.

This is probably one of the most ominous video game images I've seen in a long time

SEGA wanting to build Fandom is like a black tar heroin dealer saying they want to try lacing it with anthrax
June 22, 2026 at 6:54 PM
Folks should also remember that the SegaSammy IRs are, despite being available for public review, are not written for fans or customers or whatever. They are writing those out for shareholders, and so you'd have to follow the past IR reports to see what wacky bullshit they're lying about on the reg.
Ngl I’m kinda suspicious Sega keeps saying that “Crossworlds failed to meet expectations” but are giving no hint to what expectations were because it feels like their expectations might’ve been ridiculous
