sfdc is one of those classic cases of first mover and brand name advantage. their software sucks and their long-tenured employees are even worse. ask anyone who’s worked with or for them and they’ll tell you as much

I did a quick back of napkin math at 66 points of gross margin just based on the commitments for compute announced by OpenAI. It totaled like $450B, and at 66 points of GM (SFDC was 66 or so in FY2Q26) they'd need over $1.3 trillion in revenue.
And that was only compute costs. Not other COGS input

SFDC is basically MSFT of the 90s/00s, where it works well if you spend a fortune on customizing it and maintaining staff and resources to keep it all on the tracks, which no one does and never happens.

the way the other tech giants feed into this is that they provide the databases, the middleware, the hardware, ux design, and the predictive technology (ibm, msft, orcl, dell, intel, aapl, sfdc etc) to enable palantir to do its bidding.
