Just found this out, but legendary special effects artist, Joji Tani (aka Screaming Mad George) who built these elaborate sets for this unaired SGCTC intro, passed away last month. R.I.P.
In 1998, Cartoon Network commissioned MST3K creator (and CtC guest) Joel Hodgson and his brother Jim to create a new intro for SGCTC. 17 were produced, but were never used. Five of them were eventually released as Easter Eggs on the Volume 2 DVD. Models by Screaming Mad George. Paul Feig played SG

I made two different versions of female lokar (which I decided to name her loka) I really couldn't decide which is better.
I use a part of one of the sgctc comics and I reuse the pose of the original for the first one. #spaceghost #lokar #genderbendau #SGCTC #Art #AU

its a shame modern audiences arent into the OG Space ghost because its worth checking out, the art by Alex toth is chef kisses

i remember watching space ghost coast to coast on CN before adult swim was even a twinkle in Lazzlos eye. and also OG Cartoon Planet. sorry to say i prefer SGCTC more
Space Ghost turns 60 on September 10th, and you can bet I'm ready to be loud about it

I don't get many questions about SGCTC.

I actually haven't seen much of the original Space Ghost. As a kid I wasn't into the HB action stuff except for the Herculoids (dinosaur-adjacent). I watched a few of them when CN ran them as fillers after SGCTC. Always loved Toth's designs, never really cared much for the cartoons.

I was too young to watch the show on TV when it aired, but my dad had a CD with some of Brak's songs so SGCtC was still foundational for me

Yep, seen Brak for around $50 on some resale sites. Zorak I hardly see at all, signed or not. I have some SGCTC artwork signed by Clay, though. Wife got it for me as a birthday gift one year. ❤️

The kids didn't grow up with SGCTC, they don't know better.

Holy crap you're the voice of Brak! I grew up watching Space Ghost Coast to Coast, it was the first show I got to see premier on CN when my mom got us cable in 1994!

I was 9 and it mutated my brain!

Permanently.

I used to watch tons of CN and The History Channel. I always stayed up for SGCTC.

I ain’t never seen a minute of SGCTC, or ATHF, let alone Venture Bros or any of the live action stuff that informs a lot of humour found online.

Wait, Dave Willis is still alive. According to IMDB, he is listed in the cast in SGCTC.

So Andy, does that mean you’re now the last surviving voice actor of the main cast of SGCTC?

SGCTC was awesome.

Without Space Ghost Coast to Coast, there's no Adult Swim, and Adult Swim begat an entire decade+ of indie animation.

If you love animation but you haven't seen any SGCtC, do yourself a favor and go find some.
Seconding a declaration by @josie.zone, April 15th, the anniversary of Space Ghost Coast to Coast first airing, shall henceforth be known as "Ghostmas".

I recommend celebrating by watching and talking about Space Ghost Coast to Coast.

Maybe do some Space Ghost art if you're an art type

SGCtC and Cartoon Planet were insanely foundational to my comedic identity and it’s a small little miracle that two very odd shows were allowed to make perfect little bricolages out of Hannah Barbara’s artifacts.

the first couple years of Sealab really might be the peak of Adult Swim (with the caveat that almost all of SGCTC was pre-Adult Swim)
March 22, 2025 at 6:39 AM
Wikipedia: “The series premiered on April 15, 1994, and ended on May 31, 2008, with a total of 109 episodes over the course of 11 seasons.”

I waited until I was an adult to have my mis-spent youth, it was so worth it.

Thank you to everyone associated with the greatness that was (and is)
SGCTC.

Other ones are fun, but this is it. This is the one. You could tell me this was a normal clip from SGCTC and I'd believe it.
