Air France is not giving you directs to CDG from Boise.
And even if you want to let slide the fact that the biggest red state hubs are in blue cities--DFW, SLC, ATL--they cannot pick up all the capacity from LAX, SFO, JFK, EWR, etc.

Lemme guess: SEA, LAX, SFO, IAD, EWR, JFK, ORD, but not DFW, MIA, STL, SLC.....
There are only so many air traffic control frequencies, so they get re-used. 118.300 MHz is used by 48 towers in the U.S. according to FAA data, and you really don't want two nearby towers using the same frequency since it could lead to confusion. This Voronoi map shows how they're distributed.

United is so bare bones, even if we fly direct from SLC to EWR (5.5 hours) there are no seat back screens. Maybe not a problem for you, but with my kids it is rough times.
