#SLF4J
Found some time to finally write a blogpost on an easy to implement alternative to Lombok's Slf4j annotation in my favourite IDE. Let me know if this was also useful for you 👍

Replacing Lombok's @SLF4J with live templates in IntelliJ IDEA
@Slf4j is a very nice Lombok annotation, but in the case you don’t want to use Lombok “for reasons” there’s an alternative available in IntelliJ IDEA using their Live templates. As I’m regularly asked...

Cara, tem projeto que os caras usam pra criar o SLF4J. Eu me recuso. 😂😂😂

Ouxe, SLF4J já não é o padrão?! 🤔

#JavaJokeOfTheDay

When you scroll past:
@Validated
@Transactional
@SomeThrows
@Slf4j
@GettingOutOfHand
@ISwearThereIsAClassHereSomewhere

And find:
public void aMethod() { .. }

No XML. No boilerplate. It just works.
Annotations are Java’s spell book.

``log`` is this slightly overengineered slf4j stuff. ``tracing`` is like somebody made Spring for Log4j

I've updated my blog post on replacing @Slf4j with Live templates as @rweisleder.de suggested an alternative by typing 'log' as that will also insert the static variable and required imports: codeadventures.littlebluefrog.nl/posts/10-rep...

Sempre mando um sysout e a IDE já completa.

Apesar que sysout não deve ficar no código. O ideal é usar SLF4J.

I dreamed of writing a "#Java Logging" book after #Log4shell hit.

Today I’m proud to share:
@manning.com just launched it in MEAP.

Hard to describe what that means—a circle closes.

Until Oct 2: 50% off:

Java Logging - Christian Grobmeier
Logging is a must-know skill for Java developers. Logging is the art of making things visible—and when your codebase crashes at 5PM Friday you’ll want all the data you can get about your application!...

Wrote a small guide on JVM Service Provider Interface (SPI) for Kotlin.
What it is, real world usage in Ktor and SLF4J, "META-INF/services" mechanics.

I recently read and shared You’re Wasting Time in #Java Without These 10 Libraries. I commented on it a bit in my newsletter, but given the amount and intensity of reactions, I think a full-blown post is in order.

The #OpenTelemetry Java Instrumentation agent and SDK now offer an easy solution to convert #logs from frameworks like SLF4J/Logback or Log4j2 into OTel-compliant #JSON logs on stdout with all resource and log attributes.

Read the blog post from @cyrilleleclerc.bsky.social and Gregor Zeitlinger.
Collecting OpenTelemetry-compliant Java logs from files
If you want to get logs from your Java application ingested into an OpenTelemetry-compatible logs backend, the easiest and recommended way is using an OpenTelemetry protocol (OTLP) exporter. However,…

I have noticed the same thing in my code lately.

IntelliJ should have an inspection for that... or better, automatically replace it at copy/paste time.

However, I never use the Quarkus abstraction as I prefer to use a standard interface like the one provided by SLF4J.

It's not one of those "if it seems too good to be true" options. It's just a step up, in the same way Slf4j + <provider> is over the std logger offering.

Is this the idiomatic way to do logs in a Rust library?

https://crates.io/crates/log

Seems reasonable. Reminds me of slf4j.
