I'm in IL, so I get what you're saying, but it's so much better fighting the one front war against corporate/corrupt Dems than the two-front also against insane Republicans. We had a State Speaker of the House, Mike Madigan, who ran IL for 30 years. He finally got deposed and it's been WAY better.
