Pinellas voted to retain “Out of the Blue” last night.

This was the second time the SSYRA recognized book has gone through a committee review that resulted in retention. The first was in Sarasota last year.

The unanimous decision to retain rejected the objector’s inflammatory accusations.

I hid her away for a while, but this wonderful community has convinced me that she doesn't need to be hidden. 🤍 She hasn't changed *too* much over the years.

I was trying to find an example, but I don't think any have survived. I have some pen and paper versions from 06 and 07 though.

Ssyra in the example is a primarily white character. (As an afterthought, maybe I should have picked someone with more color! ) She is previewed with a variegated rainbow thread outline, an option I have available amongst others.

An incredible few days in Orlando at the FAME conference! What an honor to receive the SSYRA Award (grades 6-8) for INVISIBLE in front of 600 Florida librarians. There were so many hugs, meaningful conversations, and laughs with old friends and new ones. I ❤️ the FAME family!
