20 October, as noted, was #Czech Arbor Day, but you can never have enough trees, so here is a 1928 mountain scene by Otakar Štáfl. At this time, he was engaged in producing a vast series of works--from large oils to 120 watercolors--on his beloved Tatra Mountains

It ends with a short summary of the war, including context very important for understanding the outcome but irrelevant to any of the characters and a “Where Are They Now” section for half the surviving cast, including this amazing paragraph:
Stafl-Preonsa Fal Shilde 'Ngeestra dam Crose survived another serious climbing accident, continued to out-guess machines millions of times more intelligent than she was, changed sex several times, bore two children, joined Contact after the war, went primitive without permission on a stage two uncontacted with a tribe of wild horse-women, slaved for a dirigible Hypersage in a Blokstaar airsphere, returned to the Culture for the drone Jase's transcorporation into a group-mind, was caught in an avalanche while climbing but lived to tell the tale, had another child, then accepted an invitation to join Contact's Special Circumstances section and spent nearly a hundred years (as a male) as emissary to the then recently contacted Million-Star Anarchy of Soveleh. Subsequently she became a teacher on an Orbital in a small cluster near the lesser Cloud, published a popular and acclaimed autobiography, then disappeared a few years later, aged 407, while on a solo cruising holiday on an old Dra'Azon Ring.

The image shows a beautifully painted furry character resembling a tiger with blue-gray fur and long white hair. The character's expression is calm and contemplative, with a soft smile and purple eyes. They are wearing a loose, cozy sweater and resting their head on one hand. The background is textured with soft, muted colors, adding an artistic, dreamy atmosphere. The overall tone is serene and gentle.

Unikátní v jádru gotická Štáflova chalupa v Havlíčkově Brodě vznikla kolem půle 16. století a patří mezi tři nejstarší dochované vesnické domy tohoto typu u nás. HaBr větev tohoto rodu proslavili kumštýři, jako třeba malíř Arnošt Štáfl, nebo Otakar Štáfl, grafik a malíř působící v Praze.
