Absolutely,It happens when one of your coronary arteries is totally blocked. A “widowmaker” is a specific type of STEMI where the blockage affects your left anterior descending (LAD) artery

Our latest FinnDiane paper suggests that STEMI and NSTEMI are associated with distinct lipid and apolipoprotein patterns in type 1 diabetes. For STEMI, the strongest signals came from antiatherogenic lipids. For NSTEMI, ApoB-100 and the ApoB/ApoA-I ratio took the lead.

STEMI clocks: ECG ≤10 min from first contact; primary PCI if possible within 120 min; else lysis bolus within 10 min; then transfer for rescue PCI or angiography at 2–24 h. Free webinar Sat 14 Nov: cardiologycourse.com/webinar

After lysis, repeat the ECG at 60–90 min. ST resolution <50%, ongoing pain or instability = failed lysis → rescue PCI. Success still needs angiography at 2–24 h. Free webinar Sat 14 Nov: cardiologycourse.com/webinar

LAD-pattern STEMI. Diaphoretic and ill appearing, didn't want to believe he had anything other than indigestion.

He actually took a swing at the cardiologist who showed up to take him to cath lab, then ran out the door while we were waiting for security to get there.
