Today: A brace of recreational (?? recently fitted but evidently purloined!) midweek clifftop sneckers, with bonus coastal swank from the same stretch. Out on Reskajeage Downs, of course #WalkingInCornwall #SWCP #superstilin #NorthCliffs #Kernow @lakesstiles.bsky.social

The NT certainly preserved a lot and kept places open to the public before full access laws were in place. But don't forget, the legislation for Wales/England now ensures rights of access regardless of who owns it - much of the SWCP runs on private farmland. Good laws make the ownership irrelevant.

Some cheeky hills and lengthy flights of stairs in that area… I took pictures on a SWCP walk from Brixham to Maidencombe because there were just so many excessively long flights and not all had hand rails..

Chesil Beach.
Forming for 25 millennia.
Up to 15 metres high and 200 metres wide.
A lagoon that is a haven for nature.
An estimated 180 billion pebbles, sorted for size west to east by longshore drift.
The SWCP follows the inner shore of the lagoon. So peaceful today on our 9 miles into Weymouth.

Two over excited teenagers with the Lyme Regis RNLI Atlantic 85, having just hiked from Beer on the SWCP. New hats, diaries and other unnecessary items purchased. The volunteers confirmed that we are part of a huge surge in support and donations since Thommo and his thugs called them traitors. 😁

We will be heading off for a week of SWCP walking tomorrow and finally crossing into Dorset, most of which I've run but not walked. It's definitely going to be a case of "missing man formation" without Cocoa demanding we stop at every bench for refreshments. Less humour on the Jurassic Coast. 😢

Thank you, I'm glad you could see that. The cliffs in the area are massive and the path runs very close to their edges in many places, and I'm scared of heights. But for some mad reason we try and do a stretch of the SWCP every year.

Teignmouth to Exmouth.
Very easy, somewhat boring towards the end hike. Very urban with some weird holiday caravan parks vibe. Ferry (cash only) was alright. Just another section ticked off the whole path. Decent way to finish up for this year.

Babbacombe To Teignmouth.
Lovely rolling, constant up and down hike through woodland across the cliffs to Shaldon, where you catch a little ferry (cash only) to Teignmouth.
Great day 😃🥾🥾

I have one myself! And having walked many hundred of miles on the SWCP, I never walk past a lifeboat station without going in and annoying the volunteers. 😆 Universally some of the nicest people you will find anywhere.

Torquay to Babbacombe.
Glad we split that into 2 days otherwise I wouldn’t have been very popular. Lots of chatting to people on the path early on but seemed to thin out as it gets harder. We caught the cliff railway up from Babbacombe beach 😃

Nice easy day compared to yesterday. Quite urban but we’ve got to tick them all off…..eventually 😅

Amazing hike today!Dartmouth to Brixham. Good mixed bag, woodland, rocky, cliff tops, very steep climbs. We both really enjoyed that ❤️
Easier next few days 🥾🥾

Walked past this place on the SWCP near Croyde in 2024. Was still empty then.

This week’s rides and commutes. Had fun at a trail centre yesterday, managed most of the trails, even some black runs like the 55 year old I am 😂

No rides next week as we’re walking another little stretch of the SWCP 🥾🥾

You not around next week?
We’re coming through Torquay on the SWCP, would’ve been good to say hello.

Coastal walking on the SWCP next week and then a week recovering 😅

SWCP
Been chipping away at it for a few years now. Park car up, walk to an Airbnb, repeat for how ever many stages we do and then get the bus or train back to the car 😅
September 2, 2026 at 6:23 AM
Some of it is very intense indeed. The sections we’re doing this time don’t look too bad and I’ve condensed a couple after nearly killing Sue last year with an 18 miler, which was the last day of a five day hike 😬😂

This was us on our SWCP walk last early September. Absolutely hammered it down for the full 15 mile stretch on the first day.
We’ve also had it when it’s been almost too hot to be doing big miles. You can’t win 😅
