Thoroughly exhausted by @4sweb.bsky.social in Toronto, in a good way. What a great conference. 2 presentations w/ 2 very different communities of inquiry, 1 live podcast interview, many friends old & new. I dreamed of presenting at an #STS conference for years; it did not disappoint. #4S2026 #SWTech

Excited for #SSWR2027 now that a collaborative workshop proposal on strategic foresight, AI, & #SocialWork I'm organizing w/ #SWTech & #SWIN colleagues was accepted. Will we see @sswrorg.bsky.social's Bluesky account actively used for the coming conference?
SSWR is excited to join Bluesky! Things will be slow here until after the 2026 Conference in Washington, DC as we stay busy preparing. We look forward to learning the platform and engaging more with you all here. Thanks for your patience! For conference updates, go here -> sswr.org/2026-confere...

RIP @melaniesage.bsky.social. I finally met Melanie (& Todd) in person in February at NYU after years of reading her work & getting to know her via online exchanges. Her passion, enthusiasm, & optimism on tech for social good & social work will be missed. As will her kind & caring presence. #SWTech
NASW is saddened by the sudden passing of Dr. Melanie Sage, LCSW, on Friday. We extend our profound condolences to her husband, Todd Sage, and her family. Dr. Sage was a visionary leader, educator, and researcher who pioneered the integration of technology and digital literacy into social work.

This might be the shortest most thought provoking post I have seen on social media. My dissertation focused on socio-technical aspects tech implementation and boy does this resonate. Also thinking about some “problems” on my workplace…

I do not want to "take back tech".

I want something new to grow from the needs, utopias and desires that a community focused on a convivial life develops.

"Tech" as a social structure might not be salvageable.

Gets to the core issue: “Conversational AI forces us to ask something deeper. What does responsibility look like when technology simulates care, performs intimacy, and is actively reshaping how young people think, feel, and relate?”

The shift from chatbots as information systems to chatbots as relational systems is not a marginal technical change, writes Helen A. Hayes. It creates a governance rupture that existing frameworks are struggling to name, let alone address, she writes.

Interesting framework about digital health implementation. This probably applies to digital implementation in any field but like this “Imagine, Educate, Validate” way of thinking.
