david weber has some good stuff

the honor harrington, safehold, and dahak series should last you awhile

David Webber's Honor Harrington series (Start with "On Basilisk Station") ... kinda peters out towards the most recent books.

Also his Safehold series... even if it is a /little/ more industrial revolution focussed, it does have sci-fi underpinnings to, uh, speed things along. For reasons.

After the first sip, I hear someone (not sure who, but I suspect it was Muse) back there shouting, "You know, that's David Weber's favorite brand, too, right?"

Sigh.

(Bushmill's, if your curious. It's in one of the Safehold novels. Weber isn't exactly subtle.)

I’m more and more curious about how many of Weber’s characters are based on his grudges with real people ever since someone pointed out that “Clyntahn” in Safehold is very clearly “Clinton”

anyway while bluesky was down i got bored and decided to talk to every npc in the tavnazian safehold. i found odin mentioned!!!

oh god the safehold books are TERRIBLE. interesting premise but Tuckerizing real life politicians he hates just completely wrecked them, lol. I mean, the main villain is a guy whose last name is KLINTAHN, for fuck's sake.

Having read safehold and mutineer’s moon as well its really funny that he keeps shoehorning in the exact same type of space government
David Weber writing another parliamentary aristocratic form of government with a strong monarchy:

Veering slowly but dangerously into Safehold territory where protagonist faction has map hacks and basically just massacres incoming enemy forces like a total war player facing down AI stacks
August 14, 2026 at 5:42 AM
He does the same thing in the Safehold books, but it's like "the Good Guys ship only had 12 guns instead of 44, but they could fire 4 times in a minute and at a range of 2 farthings, and under that weight of fire the Bad Armada had no choice but to surrender or be destroyed"
August 13, 2026 at 8:58 PM
Caveat: in the safehold series I guess it's cannonballs or rifled bullets instead of space missiles, but the same idea. He loves the big bad to some along what they think is the hopeless little victim before the victim turns it around and dominates the bad guy overwhelmingly.

Lowkey David Weber just uses sci fi to make Nautical-Age naval warfare, as exemplified in the Safehold series (which has a bonus of a Chinese character - *le gasp!* - Being Right About Things)
