#MythAugust Day 2
While there isn't a coherent overall religion in the world of #SailsWIP, there are a few key deities that appear:

- Deity of Shadows
- Goddess of Souls
- Goddess of Ice/Frost

Mentions of:
- Spring
- Youth (Sabre's godly ancestor)
- Love
- Flame (Cay's godly ancestor)
#MythAugust Day 2

Give a basic overview of your deities. (Keep in mind we'll be going into more detail about one of them later)

I tried to make these prompts pretty broad, but ofc feel free to interpret them however you need to to fit with your mythology! 😊

#SailsWIP : Not everyone can handle sleeping while fires start in their bed.

#FallWIP : When I woke up in the Underworld, it was no surprise that I was dead.

#MythAugust August 1.
In the world of #SailsWIP you don't get a good look at all the religions. Their magic and gods are real, most people are polytheists. Most gods have a cult dedicated, at least partially, to worshipping them.

The Goddess of Flame and The God of Youth get a lot of attention
Welcome to #MythAugust, a worldbuilding game about gods, myths & religions. You can yap about a mythology you already have, or use these prompts to build one! 😊

Week 1 is all about basics. Introduce your religion! What's it called? What type of religion is it?

Starting off #FebruaryWorldbuilders by staying up too late.

Day 1: World's Name

In the shared world of #SailsWIP and #FallWIP it's called Terreden. Though, what that name means to them changes

From #SailsWIP feat. Cay talking to Lyra:

"Who are you? How did you get on my ship?”

I'll have to post some snippets here soon :)

Got a couple WIPs to talk about. I'll try to use these tags to organize stuff:

#TangWIP (slice-of-life about a catgirl named Tang, & Tang AUs. Throuple! MILFs!)
#SailsWIP (pirates! Sirens! sapphic!)
#FallWIP (Underworld! Werewolf! The love of Death(s))

This #QueerPrompts speaks most to #SailsWIP / #FallWIP universe. An idea I'm still working with

Not exactly a "right" but the considerations around rights: how godbloods are treated. Goalpost for "godblood" kinda shifty. Some places they're revered but many places are afraid/detest them +
#QueerPrompts December 10: Human Rights Day: Any special rights or restricted rights in your story?

To go with #SailsWIP :

Most of the characters go against social norms. Sabre and Cay both left their family homes to become pirates. Lyra took a different route away from status quo & ended up as a cursed siren.

The only followed expectation is Lyra and Cay's marriage (per the siren's curse)
#QueerWritersChat

Question Four: Do your characters go against social norms or stick to the status quo?

i should clarify that the setting is a huge messy fantasy world/universe. i wanted complicated issues to infect the worldbuilding & characters. This is just one example.
In #SailsWIP it's more of a backdrop/texture to the world
In #FallWIP it's more prevalent but MC is more preoccupied with death

My characters don't really swoon, but they absolutely get flustered. Here's a snippet from my #SailsWIP pirates galore. Cay's emotions are often betrayed by the fire in her hands.

#TangWIP : $11. Hardly anyone cis, het & male

#SailsWIP : $14? A teenager, an ignorable guy, the father figure to the MC, and a huge simp fanboy for MC

#FallWIP: $13. Two antagonists & an unfortunate guy stuck in the situation with MC.

At least how the current drafts stand
Your $10 book is assessed a tariff of 10% for every named cishet male character with a speaking role.

How much does it cost?

I have a decent amount of characters I'd consider bi/pan & plenty of them would switch between those labels.

Best example is Captain Cay in #SailsWIP. She certainly leans sapphic, and would even admit that. But when asked preference she just shrugs. She likes whoever matches the right vibe for her.
Bisexuals and their fun already, now it's bisexuals' turn. Tell me about your bi characters! What are they like? What do they mean to you? #WritingPrompt

#WIPSnips for Nov.5 from my #SailsWIP

Captain Cay's quest for the Golden Apple was voted on by her crew. It's a foolish journey for an item that may or may not exist, but if Cay doesn't find the Apple or feed the crew pretty lies fast enough, it'll be her head they take.

Absolutely!
I can't really think of a wip I have right now where no side characters get a happy ending.

Particularly in #SailsWIP (and the sequel I'm trying to outline). Not all of the side characters get a happy ending but more than a few do. One even gets to tell her story next.

Feb. 4: "Land" Snippet
Keeping it brief with a snippet from #SailsWIP not too worldbuild-y, but I appreciate the comedy of this line:

“I'm watching for signs of life, you get land. Land is boring,
it doesn't even go anywhere.”

i could keep going on and on since it's a topic with a lot of complexity & I'm still working with it to try and do the complexity justice. No place at any given time agrees about this subject & world events in any given era ripples into the next.
Events in #FallWIP changes world for #SailsWIP +

In #SailsWIP a good half-or-so of the world believes stories of magic & godbloods are myth.
Tirin's increased mercantile activity makes the seas a target for pirates. Even Kronia that is still run by godblooded noble families has started to favor wealth as power over divinity.

fin. (for now)

#DecemberWorldbuilders Day 10
Sticking with #SailsWIP for December (w/ a bit of #FallWIP since they share a universe)

MC: Cheerless Cay, pirate captain

Relationship with family: Bad, if we're talking blood family. After all, she did intentionally leave them behind and join a crew of pirates +
December 10, 2024 at 4:23 PM
Most of my WIPs surprisingly don't heavily involve the color green!
Visiting my pirate captains, Cheerless Cay and Handsome Sabre in #SailsWIP for this one:

In #SailsWIP Cay really thinks she's some kind of chosen one or something but really she's chosen (by me, the creator) to be entirely average but like... confident about it. Which is why she needs a wife to put her in her place (thanks Lyra)
August 6, 2025 at 3:55 PM
Writer trouble lol:
When the non POV character is a girlboss but she plays the "I'm just a girl" manipulation tactic too well that the POV character believes it... which means she comes across *not* as a girlboss... so now I think I've got to do at least a bit of dual POV.

Getting ahead of myself while I work on some edits, but I absolutely think I'd love a next book with these characters but like, Cay gets to be "the most important one" in that book. Just because I'd be amused to see Cay take a backseat after book one is the Cay show

This is going to be the year of me not being shy at all the "weird" stuff in my wips. Not all of my projects are going to be for everyone. So far, #SailsWIP is the most "digestible"
