Like a feathered squiggle of a question mark, the bird seems headless as its neck curls tightly away and down its far (right) side. Only the beak is visible in the background as it preens around its right wing. The background is a mown green grass over most of the view, about 80 percent bottom to top. Empty bar seating. It was a bit early or maybe they opened a door and slipped away? East Nashville, TN USA. A local bar used reclaimed antique doors to build its bar front. Cut to height, but the doors are left in their distressed and chipping paint in earth tones of sage, mustard, and tan. Ornate rusted doorknobs remain set at equal height for each door. The barstools are modern, minimalist, backless, square-topped stamped metal. Painted yellow, each seat is artistically decorated as if dripping with fresh paint spilled over the seat and running down each leg. The drips are accented with heavy black outlines. Left to right the colors alternate blue, red, green, blue, and black. The floor is dark brown made of exterior composite deck boards running the length of the bar. ###

A view of the main hall of the 1934 Nashville Post Office, now the Frist Art Museum. Four cylindrical chandeliers run the center length of the view. Each hold some 16 full length lenses. The lights hang on rigid supports from the center of large square ceiling medallions. Cast ceiling strips are accented with raised stars and line the center and outside edges for the length of the hall. The star fields are framed by mitered ridges appearing as striped banners running the length of the ceiling. Windowed spaces lining the side walls are filled with massive cast alloy grates. All shrink into the distant vanishing point beyond the bottom of the photo.

Springtime at the gates of the Snow Queen's Ice Palace is peaceful and serene both then and now less all manner of weapons unleashed with a crack and loud rush of falls from its crystal battlement. The aftermath of a new normal winter season is a scene of a wood fire offset left of bottom-center. In the foreground, an axe blade is buried in an unseen log at bottom right. The wooden axe handle strikes slight curve upward across three-fourths of the horizon at approx. 30 degrees from lower right towards left center. The end of the handle sits skightly above center horizon. A pyramid of charred firewood sits framed just beyond the axe handle. The handles end points to a triangular pair of wood chunks. They are charred black and frosted at the edges with ash. Small orange flames peek from the top point of the triangle. The background finds large cut logs of Silver Maple and Osage Orange strewn at the base of a rusted wire fence with rotting 4x4 inch posts barely standing. Green grass and new leaves on honeysuckle, privet, and other regional flora fill the gaps. ###
