Good to see numbers of Egle ciliata, a willow catkin fly, starting to build around the first flowering Salix...means we'll soon have Andrena bees, Myopa conopid flies, Euura sawflies and loads of other fantastic invertebrates to look for on willows. 🙂 #ento #sawflies @dipteristsforum.bsky.social

Some larvae I observed in the garden. These are the larvae of Hymenoptera. The larvae usually live on plants and resemble butterfly caterpillars. There are about 800 species of sawflies in Central Europe. I think the larvae’s eyes, or rather their dark outlines, give them a rather cute face.

Calling all #insect peeps! This rather large friend was dogging one of my guests a few days ago. This was where the Churchill River meets Hudson Bay. It looks like a wasp with some truly muscular legs, but I’m not sure and would welcome any expertise. 🌿
