#hivemind #nytsb That darn screwpine plant- that's what kept me from getting QBABM. I found Bao Li, so why didn't I find that plant? Maybe Sam's out to get me? Also found the PG that drizzled from the clouds +something tossed from a plane. Excuse me if I said too much

The picture does look like ʻieʻie but I do not think it is the pandanus, laufala, used to make mats. ʻIeʻie is genus Freycinetia and is a climbing vine with no strong roots. Laufala is genus Pandanus tectorius, common screwpine, lauhala in Hawaiian. Let me know if this is not correct.

Commonly known as "screwpine" in English, #hala is also Pandanus tectorius.

Hawaiians deeply integrated the hala plant into daily existence. Its materials were essential in crafting canoe sails, clothing, games, adornments. Today, hala maintains its significance as a resource in Hawaiian culture.

Hala is a tree found throughout the pacific, especially Hawaiʻi with many uses like lei made from the orange-yellow fruit and lauhala mats & materials woven from the stripped leaves
Hala’s design seems to be based on sumotori, referencing native Hawaiian Sumo made popular in the 80s-90s

The Screwpine… or Pandanus … is bearing a lot of fruit this year. They say it is edible… Pineapple like… but I haven’t been quite that hungry yet. I planted them @32 Years ago when they were saplings in a gallon size bucket. I had no idea what they would grow into but I do like having the 2 of them

Basically speaking; it's rice, cooked in coconut milk, and the leaf of the screwpine (pandan), served with a lovely sauce, a boiled egg, freshly baked peanuts, chicken and a few more things, and it is...one of these things I absolutely will order if I can❤️
