"But you haven't studied the Scripture, so you don't know ..."

Why would any omnipotent God make belief in him/her contingent upon years of meticulous study of a book written, transmitted & interpreted by mere, fallible human beings?

Scripture is 100% MENmade, & claimed gods within are imagined.

The appropriation of social justice and disability activist language by big tech parallels the way fundamentalist religious groups will appropriate and twist scripture to condemn and control. Their side is not just good, it is righteous.

3. What scares them is a Democrat who has the character and credibility to quote scripture with authority, not only to popularize good policies, like pro-immigrant reforms, but to discredit the GOP's authoritarian project.

6. Talarico continued: "Scripture tells us that you can’t love God and hate other people. You can’t love God and abuse the immigrant. You can’t love God and oppress the poor. You can’t love God and bully the outcast.

Nah, the scripture doesn't actually say that. A guy named Bishop Ussher once added up all the genealogies listed in some of the books of the Bible to come up with that number.

you could read a 75-foot stack of Buddhist scripture and still not learn as much about the necessity of detachment from a world of bottomless suffering and ever-changing illusion as we learn from <gestures widely>
The only reason anyone is talking about Marissa Mayer or Dazzle is that her marketing team understands how to deploy rage bait, and most of the Internet still can't spot it in the wild.

New Atheists actually agree with American right-wing evangelical Christians on the most important issue, which is that the most superficially literalist reading of Scripture is the only possible one.

I keep thinking about this from Utah Lt. Governor Deidre Henderson, a Republican, who has faced threats and pressure for refusing to hand her state's voter data to the feds: "Election denialism has become the Holy Scripture of the Republican Party and it's despicable." www.kcrw.com/shows/questi...

There would be kind of a cool factor to drinking wine from the Holy Land given its prominence in scripture but the point is lost if it’s made by people who just took over the vineyard a couple decades ago
