"The Giant's Desk and Chair"
Two large seastacks that lie directly beneath the Sliabh Liag cliffs - their shape and size has given rise to legends of huge figures that lived and moved through our landscape in the past.
As a kid I liked to think that this is where he had to do his homework.

Oh wow, BAMFIELD, lucky you! The beach in these photos is on the east side of the island (my one mild complaint about Port Alberni is the lack of good beaches & tidepooling areas)

There's a beach in Bamfield that has seastacks - your hosts will know the one 😻

Day 5! #Commandtober #Alterber #Inktober

One rider-dragon duo becomes another (friendlier) one.

Zooming in, untouchable, striking then zooming off again and drawing cards along the way fits perfectly for these two! Better than for Zuzu and Juju I think. Plus Vikings are a lot like orcs, right??!?

Almost died on the way to this beach. Could not cross driftwood though. Spotted more turkey vulture or condors I can't see if wings were tagged. One of my favorite creatures.

Thank you Mal! Agree, it’s an awesome coastal drive.
The 2 seastacks are called Gog and Magog, near the 12 Apostles.

Visited Cannon Beach for the first time in many years, and seeing the dramatic rocks and the ochre seastars and the dimunitive hermit crabs and feeling the wet sand beneath my feet felt so good.

Common around NZ, and less so around the SE of Australia. Sometimes they’ll nest on the islands of Bass Strait, but they’re much less fussy in Aotearoa, nesting on sand, shingle, shellbanks, coastal cliffs and seastacks, braided river banks, and even on human-made structures.
