A pleasant ‘seawatch’ at Grain this am with Little Gulls, nearly a 1000 Co Scoter, plenty of Kitts and a few distant Arctic Skuas. News of an Issy Wheatear at Dunge saw me trying my luck, arriving on site at 1330. The bird had vanished but eventually was relocated and I set a reasonable pace to it🤣

October across the wider Dungeness recording area had 6 new species for the year although felt quiet - a Black Kite and a Ring-necked Duck the standouts

Lapland Bunting, Leach’s Petrel +Hawfinch are worth a mention

The 2026 total is now on 243 which surpasses any of the last 7 years

Two probable Little Gulls flying with a Common Gull made up for the relative lack of seabird numbers during a quiet seawatch at Lavernock Point. Lots of visible migration with three decent Woodpigeon flocks, Redwing, Starling, Goldfinch and Linnet. Also Curlew and Oystercatchers. #birdingwales
