Large parts of our genome are duplicated DNA, and variation in these parts of the genome was very hard to study until long-read sequencing. New work on these segmental duplications is adding a new dimension to human genetic diversity.

I’m sure that he’s got a segmental dystonia, with spasmodic dysphonia affecting his vocal cords with cervical dystonia affecting his neck and blepharospasm resulting in forced eye closure (movement disorder neurologist here 🙋♂️).
