Semtech (SMTC) has joined the eXtra-dense Pluggable Optics Multi-Source Agreement (XPO MSA) to advance 200G/lane optical interconnects for AI data center networks.As a technology partner, the company contributes a portfolio of 200G/lane modulator driver and transimpedance amplifier (TIA) ICs designed to support XPO transceiver development from early prototypes through volume deployment. Industry analyst Cignal AI is cited describing a rapid market shift to 200G/lane solutions and forecasting datacom optics demand to grow from $9 billion in 2024 to an estimated $37 billion in 2026 as AI operators adopt high-speed optics.Semtech’s XPO-focused products include multiple quad and octal TIAs and Mach-Zehnder Modulator drivers, with features such as multiple configurations, high linearity, on-chip equalization, integrated telemetry, ultra-low latency and high integration for compact, high-density AI network modules.

Semtech (SMTC) announced full-production availability and volume shipments of its mobile transport portfolio enabling 50G optical fronthaul for 5G-Advanced radio deployments.The portfolio supports 10 km duplex, 15 km bidirectional (BiDi), and Wavelength Division Multiplexing (WDM) and longer-reach links, using GN2255, GN2255S, or GN2256 Clock and Data Recovery devices paired with the GN1700TI Transimpedance Amplifier. The solutions align with new 50G radio platforms from vendors such as Ericsson and Nokia that are designed for AI-era uplink traffic growth. Built on the ClearEdge®, Tri-Edge™ and FiberEdge® families, the products target 50G fronthaul today and are designed to scale toward 6G through 2030.
