What I like to see more of in fantasy?
Whimsy, Light-heartedness, Wonder, and some Fun with your fantasy (don't be so serious like with Harry Potter).
What kind of character archetypes, tropes, or worldbuilding elements do you like to see in fantasy/sci fi media? What things, when you see them, immediately make you more interested in the story?

The Protector and the Annihilation—the already-released first book of Blue Horizon—starts with Part 1's cast seemingly sighting Antonio Chandrani-Rivera within.
Reflects a vital location in the Boundless. #SeptemberWorldbuilders

Had to think long and hard about this one, as there were a lot of ways I could have answered it. However, I guess the one thing I love to see most in writing is when everything ties back to a central theme, motif or idea.

I love to see subversion of old tropes but done respectfully to the cast, reflective cultures (Queer, BIPOC, Disabilities), and without excess cynicism or no-hope. Gotta keep hope.

I like it when the implications of magic and monsters existing are actually taking into account in the worldbuilding.

I definitely like seeing characters in non-traditional occupations step into the role of hero/MC. It’s part of the reason FWC revolves around Kai, a healer.
Give me more of that! We need folks from non-heroic roles stepping up to save the day!

I love to see strong minority representation in both fantasy and science fiction. I'm honestly tired of the cis-het white man from a well-off family who never had to struggle or face adversities.

In general, I want Science Fiction to care as much about its narrative constraints and what those constraints do for a story as Fantasy does about constraining magic so it doesn't kill the stakes of the story. 1/6

I like narration with an opinion. Unreliable is great, but does the narrator think what is happening is BS?

Day 30
Fantasy tropes I love: light vs. dark, enemies to lovers, ancient magic, and the price to pay.
Characters: a smart, mortally gray villain, and the reluctant hero.
Worldbuilding: pseudo-medieval setting, rare magic, unusual creatures.

Time travel is one of my favourite tropes, but I can get picky about it.
Broadly speaking, in fantasy, I love worlds that feel properly otherworldly, with elements that are just completely unlike our world, that to the people of the world are just the norm.

The elements a show or movie contain don't interest me anywhere near as much as what the story is saying. I can get lost in a low-budget film with killer writers just as easily as a blockbuster with questionable dialogue.
Tell me a good story.
