Selectboard members and emergency communications staff reviewed three options for the town dispatch center — remain regional with cost recovery, operate a Shelburne-only center, or contract services — amid data showing Shelburne pays about 2.8 times per call compared with nearby communities and concerns about service delays from call transfers.

On July 14, 2026, the Shelburne Selectboard approved a Step 3 construction application seeking $29.8 million from Vermont's Clean Water Revolving Loan Fund to finance Contract #2 of the town's Wastewater Consolidation project; voters previously approved $38 million in local debt. The board voted 4-0 to move forward with the state funding step prior to contracting.

Commissioners discussed the CVU school board’s vote to accept a donated artificial turf field, noting hydrology and health concerns, unclear maintenance obligations, and an unverified company claim of PFAS compliance.

At its July 9 meeting the Shelburne Planning Commission agreed to direct most new development to the sewer service area, discussed infrastructure and regional utility approaches, and added parks and recreation goals including exploring a community center and expanded Lake Champlain access.

Town staff presented a first draft ordinance to create a Shelburne Housing Trust Fund; committee discussed nonprofit administration for down-payment assistance, incentives to retain local workers, and soliciting donations, and staff will share the draft with the Select Board for review.

The Selectboard designated Experience Shelburne as the official Downtown Organization and authorized a Center Step Three (state Downtown Program) application, which staff expect to file in August; motion passed unanimously.
