Tanaka Studios x Mondo joined forces to produce the scariest version of ShodaiGoji (Godzilla 1954) we’ll likely never see in film, but having him on a shelf is a bonus, right? Find out!

I wonder how ShodaiGoji feels knowing that he started a 71 year long and still ongoing movie franchise

I have a lot, but it's mostly these guys. (Or gal when we're talking about MireGoji, not sure.)

I'm planning on doing two types of Godzilla AMV/Music video tributes later on, one is about the Godzilla kaiju villains, and the other is about ShodaiGoji/Kiryu. But when I finished that walking with dinosaurs MV I just felt overwhelmed.

Drawing Wario everyday until there's a new Wario Land game day 1954.
1954 was the beginning of my favorite movie series :)

Yeah, i think this is AI (or otherwise fake). That APPEARS to be the original ShodaiGoji suit from 1954, though the eyes seem a little too perfect to be that suit. There's no way he'd be on the set for the original film.

It was modelled by Shinichi Wakasa and his company MONSTERS Inc. and worn by suit actor Tsutomu Kitagawa. The replica suit's smooth appearance and the lighting setup in which it was filmed is the reason some fans mistake it for the use of CGI. It even managed to fool Gareth Edwards!

In Godzilla: The Art of Destruction, director Gareth Edwards recalls a flashback scene in Godzilla Against Mechagodzilla where the original Godzilla is disintegrated by the Oxygen Destroyer. This scene is often mistaken for CGI and was actually made using a partial replica of the ShodaiGoji suit.

full drawing of Gojira I did yesterday. this is specifically Shodaigoji, which is the name of the suit used for the first movie! I was gonna use it for something but realized it was too big and had a better idea. very proud of his hands and paws

It’s a few days late for Godzilla Day, but I commissioned it ON that day so it still counts! @clownslaughter.bsky.social took my money and drew me a Springtrap ShodaiGoji! I’ve had a crossover worldbuilding thing in my head off and on for years now, and had to get it out… man. Poor Serizawa.

The four ShodaiGoji suits. The original that was too heavy for filming, the one used on film, the 2002 recreation suit, and lastly the 2018 recreation suit.

Spent much of my penultimate day in Japan last Friday riding the Shinkansen to Nagahama and visiting the second Kaiyodo Figure Museum. The exhibits in this one was just, if not slightly more impressive than the one in Osaka.
Here’s a few from their catalog for Godzilla. (1/6)

Some shots of the individual Godzilla figures they had in the kaiju section. More specifically ShodaiGoji, KinGoji, ShinGoji, and MosuGoji
These suckers were gigantic. They looked like they were 2, maybe even 3 feet tall. Absolutely incredible. (2/16)

How about instead of making the millionth variation of Shodaigoji and Shingoji for your edgy fan made redesign of Godzilla you look at Gyakushugoji for a bit.
