Galaxy editor Frederick Pohl had serious reservations about the second and third stories, I think rightly. For me To Open the Sky (1967) is a more effective story sequence - also made up of stories published in Galaxy.
Faith in the stars: To Open the Sky (1967) by Robert Silverberg
A key novel in its author’s development is set in a world where a new religion could pave the way for humanity’s expansion to the stars.

That first story is a strong one, especially for something written in five days. The novel as a whole, though, I feel is B-tier Silverberg - not operating at full strength.

Nightwings (1969) by Robert Silverberg ✅ - in the caste-based, post disaster Third Cycle of humanity, a wanderer seeks meaning through various vocations.

"Our Lady of the Sauropods" by Robert Silverberg is from 1980 and has dinosaur cloning, so not quite the 1970s but pretty close!
